What are all the waiting periods under Group Health Insurance?

For each member covered under the group health insurance: 

  • There is an initial waiting period of 30 days (not applicable in the case of accidental hospitalization) from the date of the enrolment of each member. 
  • Pre-existing diseases are not covered for 4 years from the date of enrolment. 
  • There shall be 2 years of waiting period from the date of enrolment for the following specific disease: 

i. Internal congenital diseases 

ii. Non-infective arthritis 

iii. Diseases of gall bladder including cholecystitis 

iv. Urogenital system e.g. Kidney Stone, Urinary Bladder Stone 

v. Pancreatitis 

vi. Ulcer and erosion of stomach and duodenum 

vii. All forms of Cirrhosis 

viii. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD) 

ix. Perineal Abscesses 

x. Perianal Abscesses 

xi. Cataract 

xii. Fissure / fistula in anus, Haemorrhoids including 

xiii. Pilonidal sinus 

xiv. Gout and rheumatism 

xv. Benign tumours, cysts, nodules, polyps including breast lumps 

xvi. Osteoarthritis and osteoporosis 

xvii. Polycystic ovarian diseases 

xviii. Fibroids (fibromyoma) 

xix. Sinusitis, Rhinitis 

xx. Tonsillitis 

xxi. Skin tumours 

xxii. Benign Hyperplasia of Prostate
